Name: Jevne, Otto

Historical Note: Otto Jevne was born in Norway and learned there the trade of fresco painter, according to Paul M. Angle (Antiques, Jan. 1953, 60).  He came to Chicago in 1853. He went into partnership with Peter M. Almini in 1855, a relationship that lasted until the Chicago Fire of 1871.  After that the two men pursued separate businesses, with Jevne continuing as an interior decorator and frasco painter for churches and other structures.
