McDonough, John T. | Lake Forest College Archives and Special Collections

Name: McDonough, John T.

Historical Note:

John T. McDonough, a Wilmette resident, is a 1964 graduate of Lake Forest Colelge, and a free lance journalist.  He is notable for his early adoption and sharing of his ability and equipment for audio taping events, including campus programs 1960-64 for Ellen Mosey, then head of Public Relations on campus--making him a sort of audio "Mosey Boy" like the several photographers (young men and weomen) she nurtured in the period of the 1960s and early 1970s.

John explains his taping in a WNPR jazz broadcast, that before entering LF College he received an early portable tape recorder and used it to claudestinely record, his term, Ravinia jazzshows of the day, later used on the radio.  He brought this to campus and introduced the taping of campus lectures and programs, a tradition that continues to this day, though now digitally recorded vsound and video.
