Hyatt, J. S. | Lake Forest College Archives and Special Collections

Name: Hyatt, J. S.

Historical Note: J. S. Hyatt was a civil engineer with an office on Milwaukee Ave., serving at various times as civil engineer to the Chicago Rapid Transit co. (1912) and by the 1920s apparently for the North Shore Line.  In March of 1926, for example, he had meetings relating to the Eurcharistic conference and perhaps the spur to Mundelein created then by the NSL, with the C & NW Railway, and relating to the Skokie Highway already being proposed though not built until the WPA projects of the mid 1930s.  Further research may determine whether or not he is listed among NSL personnel, if his Milwaukee Road address is in the Van Horst designed buidling of Insull's, etc.  He appears to have known the Insulls well enough to have attended a "performance of Mrs. Insull's" in later 1926.  Mentions on the web suggeest that he was mayor of Libertyville in 1915.
