Historical Note: Elizabeth Teter Lunn, 1904-1998, was a pinoeer woman famculty member at Lake Forest college, the first woman to head a science department (Biology), and, as an ecologist, a key force in documenting and preserving the Illinois dunes north of Waukegan, IL.  She attended Wellesley (grad. 1925), the University of Chicago and obtained her Ph.D. in Biology from Northwestern.  She preserved and developed also the elizabeth T. Lunn Herb arium at Lake Forest College, with roots in plant collection dating from 1897.  Her book, Plants of the Illinois Dunesland (1986), capped her sixty-yer study of that important ecological area.    For more information, see: http://www.lakeforest.edu/library/archives/biography/elizabethlunn.php .
