Name: Patterson, Robert W. (Robert Wilson), (1814-1894)

Historical Note: Robert Wilson Patterson was born January 21,1814 in Marysville Tennessee. His family moved to Illinois in 1824, and Patterson attended Illinois College and then Lane Theological Seminary. In 1842 Patterson became pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Later, he became a professor in the Presbyterian Seminary of Chicago. Patterson served as president of Lake Forest from 1875-1977, and was the college's first president. Patterson helped found the school and served as one of its first trustees.
